Thinking about a coms setup military style PTT, some sort of headset etc. I was thinking something similar to this. My problem is I have no idea what it is. The movie has him talking to his squad while it's lacking a boom mic, I have no idea if this is possible, but it would be great if that is an option. EDIT: Also having commonly worn headset in general for extended periods of time, the compression tends to fatigue you and induce headaches. How noticeable is this with Sordins/Comtacs etc?

I've often wonder the same thing about the mic in that movie as well. As for comtec replicas go they work great and the compression isn't bad, they just tend to get really hot after awhile. Sorry I wasn't more help Triggs. I'll watch the movie again and see if I can find out what coms they are.

I think for most days I'd probably end up with a handset woven into the vest (there is no way I would have ever worn a headset this summer), but for the looks/spring/fall/winter I'd be plenty happy to have a way to warm the ears.
The right side is shown fairly clearly in the movie....and looks like a IPSC Sordin (since there's no mic) but the left side has no resemblance at all and more like a Comtac II
I guess to be accurate what are Rangers currently wearing or rather 2010-2011?
Thanks in advance/already
EDIT: Another option is if they make any headsets that have a removable boom mic, I wouldn't mind using them for RS range (I believe I read even replicas work for this) but primarily airsoft, especially if I don't need the boom mic all the time.

I've used my replica comtec II's for real steal before and they worked fine.
Edit:Triggs I did a quick search on gearsoc and from what I can tell it looks like a mix of sordins and comtec II'S

Damn movie magic damn them to hell....
Ah well that idea is out, well then do Sordins or Comtacs have removable mic's in case I want to head to the range with them?

Triggs, on real Comtac II/III's the mic is removable however the downlead is hardwired in. On Sordins, the mic is NOT removable and is the same with the downlead being hardwired in.
Personally, I would get Sordins as they're slimmer and more low profile. I absolutely love my pair, best investment on earpro I've made.
One other piece of advice if you're going to get Sordins, make sure you get the gel ear cup replacements, the original set get uncomfortable after being on for an extended period of time. They also fit better around the ear stocks of sunglasses or other eye protection.
